Holiday Finishes
2020 has been quite a year and I've done very little sewing but the need to get two holiday gifts completed forced me to sit down at my sewing machine. They are wall hangings for my niece and nephew.
First up is the one for my niece. She absolutely adores flamingos so I decided to find a paper piecing pattern that would finish at block size. This is about 11"x13" with the binding.
Next up was the one for my nephew. He is a huge Seattle Seahawks fan with his bedroom all decorated in those classic green, navy, and gray colors. I did this one using the applique technique with some light heat-n-bond, getting the image off the internet and just tracing it onto freezer paper. The straight line quilting forms a halo around the hawk image, but I'm afraid that it looks rather wrinkled in this photo. I'll be honest, I originally forgot to take a photo of it until after it was wrapped. I had it rolled around a paper towel dowel which was why it was wrinkled a bit.
I hope both kids like their presents this year. Thanks to them, these projects helped me to get out of my sewing funk and I seem to have my sew-jo back again.
